In Europe, social inclusion services have been decentralised and local authorities have been in the center of provision of social inclusion services for decades. Many political circles, especially members of the EU, have been stressing the necessity of forming local partnerships between local authorities and the voluntary sector. As a case study, the Borough of Hackney (London) was found to be a good example of a local authority forming partnerships with the voluntary sector and which now has established and well-functioning social inclusion partnerships for children and young people that adheres to the main principles of multidimensionality, partnership and participation.
